Comal ISD breaks ground on middle school within New Braunfels’ Mayfair development
Comal ISD held a groundbreaking ceremony for its ninth middle school, located in the new Mayfair development, on Wednesday morning as the district looks to address rapid growth in the area.
The school is funded through the 2023 bond. As far as a timeline for the construction of middle school No. 9, the team anticipates receiving a permit within the next 30 days, said Comal ISD Chief Operations Officer Mark Stahl. The project has a 24-month buildout and the campus is anticipated to open in August of 2027.
Superintendent John Chapman said the groundbreaking is more than a photo-op with a golden shovel, as it represents the continued growth of the community and district.
