Enjoy Halloween With Pumpkin Patches and Spooky Events
This spooky season, whether you’re looking for a relaxing family outing or an exciting scare, there are many options in and around Mayfair. From Mayfair’s own pumpkin patch to the local Pink Pumpkin Patch, it’s a great time to find the jack-o’-lantern that’s perfect for your front porch.
Shop Jack-O’-Lanterns at Local Pumpkin Patches
When you need holiday decorations and pumpkins for carving, there are several options for getting out and about to peruse pumpkin patches and enjoy fun fall activities. Some of the pumpkin patches in and around New Braunfels and Mayfair include:
Pumpkin Patch & Model Home Tour at Mayfair
On October 16th to 17th and October 23rd to 24th, you can find the perfect pumpkin right in your backyard. Mayfair’s Pumpkin Patch & Model Home Tour offers pumpkins at Celebration Hall from Sirona Farms as well as tours of model homes. There will be fall treats at Ollie’s Market, and you can learn about the unique amenities and incentives in the area.
Sundrop Springs
The 2026 Fall Festival at Sundrop Springs is located northwest of New Braunfels and has numerous fun activities, including a modest pumpkin patch. In addition to boasting pumpkins of many sizes and colors to shop from, Sundrop Springs has many other fun and spooky events, like:
- A 4,000-square-foot spiderweb and hay maze
- Daytime hay rides or a walk along the Pumpkin King’s Trail for all ages
- Nighttime hay rides for 12+
- A nighttime walk with scares along the Pumpkin King’s Trail for 12+
In addition to attractions for the season, Sundrop Springs has many other events and attractions, including pig races, a petting zoo, a castle playground, food, and live music. Sundrop Springs is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays on all weekends in October.
Country Grace Farms
Country Grace Farms’ Pink Pumpkin Patch is a delightful and unique pumpkin patch experience, with photo ops, a carousel, train rides, and many other attractions on top of its star pink pumpkin patch and traditional pumpkin patch. Located just east of Mayfair, this pumpkin patch is conveniently close.
Braune Farms Fresh Produce
For three weekends in October, the Braune Farms Fresh Produce Pumpkin Patch is open. With a hayride to the farm, many fun activities, and the pumpkin patch, this is a fun, authentic experience to find your perfect pumpkin.
Bracken Church Pumpkin Patch
The Bracken Pumpkin Patch outside the Bracken Methodist Church opens October 9th and is open on weekdays and weekends. This may make it the ideal place to get your pumpkins if your weekends are booked. As an added bonus, purchasing pumpkins here can support local programs and food pantries.
First United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch
The First United Methodist Church has its own pumpkin patch with pumpkins and squash for sale. Pumpkin delivery is expected the weekend of October 2nd, and the pumpkin patch will be open every day of the week.
Halloween Events Near Mayfair
Got your pumpkins already? There are still plenty of options for Halloween, Día de los Muertos, and other holiday fun. Some nearby options include:
Cavern Bat Fest at Natural Bridge Caverns
Every weekend in October, you can attend the Cavern Bat Fest for some family fun. The largest colony of bats makes its home in Bracken Cave at Natural Bridge Caverns, and although the bat flight season is over, there is still plenty of time to celebrate bats during the Halloween and fall season.
Cavern Bat Fest offers lots of fun activities like scarecrow dressing, themed scavenger hunts, and a small hay maze. The seasonal activities are free, and you can get tickets for tours and other events.
McKenna Children’s Museum
McKenna Children’s Museum has several events throughout October included with admission, while supplies last, including:
- Tasty Tuesday. On October 6th, at 2 p.m., there will be a lesson to make a fun Frankenstein’s monster treat.
- Yuckology! At 2 p.m. on October 16th, the museum will have a slime-making event.
- Halloween Bingo. This is a spooky, themed bingo on October 20th at 2 p.m.
- McKenna’s Halloween Party. This is on October 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. You can get advance tickets to the event. It’s a Halloween celebration to wear your costume to and enjoy seasonal games.
Fischer Park Flicks
If you were worried that you missed out on the free Friday-night movie in Fischer Park, you’ve still got time to see it! Because of the weather on its originally scheduled date of October 2nd, the movie was moved to Thursday, October 15th. You can catch Coco for free in Fischer Park at the amphitheater at 6:30 p.m. Bring your own chairs and blankets to enjoy this showing and get ready for Día de los Muertos.
Kids Fan Club at the Main Brain Library
At the New Braunfels Public Library, on October 16th, enjoy a fun program and celebrate It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown this season.
Día de los Muertos Festival in New Braunfels
Día de los Muertos honors those who have passed. You can celebrate Día de los Muertos in New Braunfels on October 17th, from noon to 10 p.m. There will be live music, food trucks, vendors, arts and crafts, and many activities for kids to enjoy.
Trick or Treat at Das Street
Go trick-or-treating at Das Rec on October 23rd and enjoy music, arts and crafts, games, and a costume contest.
Howl-O-Ween at Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo
With dozens of trick-or-treat stations, free face painting, spooky-themed animal shows, a hay maze, a costume contest, and a station to meet some creepy crawly creatures, the Howl-O-Ween Extravaganza offers an exceptionally fun time for the whole family.
WurstFest
As we leave the spooky season, it’s almost time for WurstFest. From November 6th to 15th, this event is a celebration of German culture and its merging with the Texan community. It’s expected that over 200,000 people will attend. Admission prices vary by day. The event includes music, food, carnival rides, and lots of festival fun.
