The Community Thriving With the New Businesses in Mayfair

The landscape of New Braunfels is changing, from the physical skyline to the growth of the economy and the community. Numerous new stores, restaurants, and development projects are helping the neighborhood grow and thrive. The new changes and vibrant, exciting locations are putting families first in and around Mayfair.

New Grocery Options

When you and your family are ready to cultivate new culinary creations together, these new spots can help you bring the heart of your home to life. From healthy food options to snacks of all sizes, these stores, and their added perks, bring new energy to the community.

Costco Wholesale

The arrival of Costco to the neighborhood is highly anticipated and expected to open on May 15, 2026. The $33.8 million project is a major part of the developmental planning of the Mayfair community.

Sprouts Farmers Market

With a focus on organic, healthy, and hard-to-find ingredients, Sprouts Farmers Market offers customers specialty groceries and natural options for health-conscious shoppers. Now open in Creekside Crossing, it also brings the potential for up to 92 jobs to the local economy.

Food Box

If you need something in a pinch, Food Box has you covered. This convenience store chain, which comes from Texas, is one of the developments planned as part of the Mayfair community. Construction of the 7,000 square foot facility will begin later this year. When finished sometime in 2027, it will offer upscale architecture, convenient gas pumps, and healthy food options.

New Restaurants, Bars, and Dining

Whether driving the kids home from practice or taking a mid-week break from cooking, several new dining options have come to Mayfair or are arriving soon. These new restaurants provide residents with exciting new options on nights out.

Potbelly Sandwich Works

In a renovated location in Creekside Crossing in New Braunfels, Potbelly Sandwich Works opened this April. Starting in Chicago, Potbelly offers casual dining, including sandwiches, wraps, soups, and salads.

Portillo’s

Another well-known restaurant from Chicago, Portillo’s, is a casual restaurant bringing Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef, burgers, and more. When it opens in 2026, it will leave you questioning your own hot dog decisions and where this deliciousness has been all your life. Don’t forget to try a cake shake.

Kennedy’s Tavern

Kennedy’s Tavern is an Irish pub that opened the week before St. Patrick’s Day this year. The Tavern is in the center of New Braunfels, in the historic Voigt House, built in 1870, which became a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1973. The pub offers a live music stage, a food truck, and fire pits. You won’t need the luck of the Irish here. Just good friends to share good food.

Terry Black’s Barbecue

Nothing says Texas like BBQ, and this smokehouse brings the style of Lockhart barbecue to New Braunfels. Planning to open in mid-2026, this location is just down the street from Black’s Barbeque. In true Texas fashion, the history of this restaurant and the owners is straight out of a country song. Stop in to try some delicious BBQ and to sit for a spell.

Hunter Road Country Club

Don’t let the name fool you. You won’t find golf courses, pools, or a member list at this restaurant. This bar and grill is expected to open in May 2026 and provide a casual dining experience. |

Old City Hall Restaurant & Bar

The city hall, opened in 1929, has been remade into an upscale dining location. Old City Hall Restaurant & Bar hopes to honor and accentuate the history of the building.

¡Saludos! Cocina Bar + Grill

Established in the historical Dittlinger building, the ¡Saludos! Cocina Bar + Grill opened its doors in 2026 as an innovative Spanish-style restaurant providing cuisine inspired by Mexican street food. The restaurant has a full bar, a patio, and a green space.

sMAC’n Noodles

If you love macaroni but find yourself fighting over how to make it with the family, then this sMAC’n Noodles may just be the solution you need. This dining location offers customizable mac and cheese dishes for takeout, with made-from-scratch pasta. With origins in Seguin, patrons can create macaroni dishes with options like smoked brisket, roasted corn, caramelized onions, and more.

Cava

Everyone has heard about the health benefits associated with the Mediterranean diet. Now, Cava brings that benefit to the hub of the Town Center at Creekside. Opening in mid-2026, this casual dining spot may just be the delicious diet that you can easily stick to.

The Weighted Plate

This is not a stranger to our community. Although this restaurant and bar formerly closed, it is soon to be reopened to bring back its strong sense of community. The Weighted Plan is being relocated to a historic home built in 1909 and is ready to reestablish itself as the go-to social spot.

 Projects in Hospitality and Recreation

Whether you’re in-laws are coming to town, or you need to host a business meeting with out-of-town attendees, there are several new projects in New Braunfels and the Mayfair community that offer places to stay and locations to gather.

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Riverfront Hotel

This hotel is a $40 million project set along the Guadalupe River that creates a striking new look for the neighborhood’s skyline. The hotel is eight stories tall, and those who take I-35 Monarch Highway will have seen its construction since 2025. Expected to be complete by late 2026, it boasts an event space and a fitness center, offering a resort getaway for tourists and businesses or a stay-cation spot for locals.

Mission Hill Park

Mission Hill Park started development in 2022 and is a 10-acre area of land that has been closed for much of its Phase 2 construction. It is expected to reopen soon, likely with a grand reopening to start off the summer.

The development project focuses on expanding the trail system, creating an elevated canopy walk, and creating an observation tower and educational features. It is a $12.155 million project. The park offers an exceptional way to explore the beauty of New Braunfels and enjoy a day out.

Faust Hotel

The Faust Hotel is a historic boutique hotel built in 1929. For three years, it has been closed for renovations that cost $4.5 million. It is expected to reopen in spring 2026. The renovation includes a restaurant and a speakeasy bar, while all the rooms have been modernized with luxurious and quality additions. The main floor of the hotel aims to retain the character of the original location, offering exceptional ambiance.

Building the Mayfair Community

These projects, restaurants, shops, and many other developments are an essential part of developing a sustainable and upscale community.
